Msheireb Properties appoints Nasser Matar AlKawari new Chief Executive Officer

Msheireb Properties announced that Eng. Nasser Matar AlKawari has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer.

He will lead Msheireb Properties by driving innovation and sustainability for its future growth.

He comes with more than 25 years of experience in various leadership positions across different countries. He worked in Qatar Development Bank and world leading Energy companies such as Qatargas and ExxonMobil. His last appointment was the CEO of Astad Engineering Consultancy and Project Management.

AlKawari earned a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder in USA, followed by an Executive MBA from the London Business School in UK. He successfully completed prestigious leadership programs from the IESE Business School in Spain and the Thunderbird School of Global Management in USA.

Msheireb Properties launches “Msheireb Green Program” at “Talk Green”

Msheireb Properties launched the “Msheireb Green Program” dedicated to cafes and restaurants at Msheireb Downtown Doha to encourage the implementation of sustainability best practices in line with the company’s mission and vision.

The program was announced during the first edition of “Talk Green” event, organized by Msheireb Properties as part of Qatar Sustainability Week activations in collaboration with Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC).

The first edition of Talk Green was held at Barahat Msheireb for corporates, institutions, and youth to highlight eco-related solutions and strategies on sustainability to the public and to foster public awareness and participation. On day one Talk Green had speakers from Msheireb Properties, Shell, Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, and Qatar Foundation

In her green talk, Maryam Al Jassem, PR and Communications Manager at Msheireb Properties, announced that the ‘Msheireb Green Program’ that will be implemented in Msheireb Downtown Doha starting in December 2021, to encourage F&B outlets to implement sustainability practices to receive Gold or Platinum certificates. Additionally, for those F&B outlets in Msheireb Downtown Doha which qualify, Msheireb Properties and QGBC will submit their applications for the Green Key Award, an award that is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the food & beverage industries.

Al Jassem said: “As part of our vision and mission, Msheireb Properties inspires all stakeholders to implement sustainability best practices, and that was the motivation for initiating this program. We will continuously communicate with our stakeholders to provide them all relevant information and details about the Msheireb Green Program, supported by our partners, the Qatar Green Building Council”.

A special committee from Msheireb Properties and QGBC will asses the participants and their adherence to the program criteria. Outlets that achieve 50% of the criteria will receive Gold certificate while those achieve 75% will receive Platinum certificate.

The criteria of Msheireb Green Program include special practices such as water and electricity efficiency, waste collection and segregation, eco-friendly sanitizers, paper cups and tools instead of plastic, and promoting sustainability among staff and customers.

At Talk Green, representing Msheireb Properties, Eng. Ali Al Yafai talked about the sustainability pillars that the organisation has adopted in Msheireb Downtown Doha. These four pillars are: Connectivity, water efficiency, power consumption, and waste collection. Al Yafai said that the implementation of these make Msheireb Properties an exemplary city district for sustainability, and the largest LEED certified building in the world.

Eng. Meshal Al- Al Shammari from QGBC highlighted the objectives of the the Qatar Sustainability Week National Campaign were to raise awareness and promote sustainability within the local community. He called on the individuals to implement sustainability practices in the daily life. Al A lShammari underlined the QGBC’s effort to promote sustainability through conferences, partnerships, and environmental initiatives.

The talk by Jason Twill, World Cup Program Manager at Qatar Foundation, was about the human economy impact on the environment. He stated that waste, pollution and deterioration of air quality have an adverse impact on humans’ health as well as the mental health of future generations. Twill urged individual and communities to change their attitude and behaviors in their daily lives to practice sustainability.

Abdel Rahman Al Miftah, Sustainability and Environmental expert at the Supreme Committee, talked about The Sustainability Program of Qatar 2022. He said that the Supreme Committee is seeking to accomplish 11 objectives of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in collaboration with the State of Qatar and FIFA. He also showcased the efforts by the committee to promote sustainability, including human development, workers welfare, employee’s empowerment and sustainability in football stadiums.

Dharmesh Kumar, New Projects Lead from Shell, delivered a presentation titled “A Better Life with A Health Planet”, presenting the initiatives and programs of Shell to promote sustainable and renewable energy solutions. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with partners to make these solutions applicable.

The week will be concluded with a series of workshops dedicated to promoting sustainability practices, especially among youth and children. Msheireb Townhouses Majalis Awarded Prestigious LEED Gold Green Building Certification

Qatar Free Zones Authority, WOLF Group and Msheireb Properties sign agreement to launch 3D Printing and Digitalization Hub

Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA), WOLF Group QFZ LLC and Msheireb Properties today signed an agreement to establish a 3D Printing and Digitalization Hub and Art Gallery in Ras Bufontas Free Zone, with its headquarters to be located in Doha Design District at Msheireb Downtown Doha.

Lim Meng Hui, CEO of QFZA, Mariusz Król, CEO & Founder of WOLF Group, and Ali Al-Kuwari, Acting CEO of Msheireb Properties, signed the agreement at a ceremony held in Msheireb Downtown Doha. The ceremony was also attended by senior members of the QFZA, WOLF and Msheireb Properties management teams. The new partnership is in line with vision of the three entities to promote technological development and support modern art, for Qatar and the broader region.

The 3D Printing and Digitalization Hub will offer access for artists and enterprises to next generation technologies such as 3D printing and innovative new techniques for scanning and photogrammetry. WOLF Group will facilitate the transfer of artists’ works from digital versions to real works of art using various materials, including recycled ones, helping to raise awareness of sustainable development methods. The Hub will be a place where designers and the general public can gather, create and be inspired.

The 3D Printing Hub will be a special place for the development of large-format 3D printing using recycled materials (PETG). This enables the production of functional furniture designed by the best local and international artists from all over the world. Over the longer term, WOLF Group is planning to implement multi-series production.

The National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, and Msheireb Museums at Msheireb Properties, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaborative efforts to increase awareness on the global issue of modern-day slavery and human trafficking.

The MoU was signed by HE Mohammed Hassan Al-Obaidli, Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs and Secretary of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking, and Mr. Ali Al-Kuwari, Acting CEO of Msheireb Properties, in the presence of Dr. Hafiz Ali Abdulla, Director of Msheireb Museums, and representatives from the Ministry and the company.

The agreement underlines the commitment of the Ministry and Msheireb Properties to enhance awareness of human trafficking, a scrouge that impacts communities and individuals around the world. The two entities will join hands to implement awareness sessions on the subject. The cooperation agreement also covers supporting training courses and educational sessions hosted by schools and other entities in line with the mission of the Ministry and the Committee.

One of the key activations is updating the ongoing exhibition at Bin Jelmood House in Msheireb Museums to cover modern slavery-related issues to coincide with the International Day for Combatting Human Trafficking on July 30.

Mr. Mohammed Hassan Al-Obaidli, Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs, said: “The signing of this memorandum comes within the framework of supporting joint efforts to combat human trafficking and cooperating with the concerned authorities in this regard, in accordance with the tasks of the “National Committee for Combating Human trafficking”, which plays the role of the national coordinator and supervises the implementation of the national plan in this field.”

The memorandum will contribute, through joint promotional and educational activities with “Msheireb Museums” and ” Bin Jelmoud House exhibition”, to spreading awareness of Qatar’s efforts and achievements in developing legislation and promoting national practices to prevent and combat human trafficking and provide protection for migrant workers, in accordance with international standards and ratified agreements in line with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

At Bin Jelmood House, we are shedding the light on this issue by raising awareness among all segments of the society, especially students. We are delighted to sign the MoU with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor, and Social Affairs and to coordinate with the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking to raise awareness of the issue.”
