Msheireb Properties Launches Annual Walkathon In Celebration Of Qatar National Sports Day

Doha, 12 February 2019

Msheireb Properties , Qatar’s leading sustainable developer and a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation for Education, Sciences and Community Development, celebrated Qatar National Sports Day at Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD) with company employees and their families, as well as team members from the two soon-to-be launched hotel properties at MDD; Mandarin Oriental Doha and Al Wadi Hotel Doha MGallery by Accorhotels. The event began with a walkathon around the city district, starting in Sahat Wadi Msheireb and ending in Barahat Msheireb, the largest covered public square in the Middle East.

With no better way to showcase Msheireb Downtown Doha as a walkable city, MP used the occasion of the National Sports Day to launch what will become an annual walkathon tradition at Msheireb Downtown Doha, the new destination for leisure, living and business, and the walkable district in the heart of the city. In the spirit of the day, the morning was filled with fun sport activities for staff members and their families to encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Msheireb Downtown Doha, the smartest and most sustainable fully-built city district in the world, aims to reverse the pattern of development in Doha that tended towards isolated land use, reliance on car transportation and energy hungry structures. It is set to become a new social and civic hub in the city centre – a place where it is enjoyable to live, work, shop, visit, and spend time with family and friends.

MDD is the result of a three-year research conducted by Msheireb Properties in collaboration with international pioneers in design, architecture, and urban planning to regenerate the old centre of Doha in a way that promotes smart and sustainable living.
