Msheireb Properties, the sustainable real estate developer and a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation, will organize a virtual summit on February 17 to announce the foundation of the new “Doha Design District,” the new design hub at Msheireb Downtown Doha and will serve as the center of Qatar’s design and innovation.

The virtual summit aims to introduce the new Doha Design District and its objectives, shed light on the role of international design districts in enriching the cultural and art scene while offering a platform for discussion, mutual expertise between local and international designers.

The opening session focuses on the Doha Design District, with speakers from Msheireb Properites and Qatar Museums. Ali Al Kuwari, Acting CEO of Msheireb Properties, provides the welcoming speech and Shaikha Al Sulaiti, Manager, Interior Design and David MacAdam, Senior Leasing Consultant, discuss the inception of Doha Design District and its initiaitives and significance in Msheireb Downtown Doha. Additionally, Whitney Robinson, former Editor of Elle Décor and senior design consultant to Qatar Museums, will discuss the work undertaken with international designers to launch the CP Club Townhouses Project in Msheireb Downtown Doha.

Doha Design District will be a vital piece of Doha’s cultural fabric and help position the city as the regional design hub by collaborating with established brands and designers worldwide while promoting local designers. It will create an artistic design ethos by partnering with the retail brands, collaborating with local industry professionals, global affiliations, and networking partners, and offering an environment where designers and the general public can gather, be inspired, and create.

In addition to the virtual summit, Msheireb Properties, in collaboration with the international design house Preciosa, is exhibiting the ‘Crystallation exhibition’, a physical exhibition that is currently placed on Sikkat Al Wadi in the city district. . Crystallation is a symbol of design innovation that offers an opportunity to show how design can raise awareness of the importance of community and collaboration. At the exhibit, each visitor will have the chance to buy a pair of Preciosa Lighting crystal trimmings. One trimming can be hung on the installation, while the second trimming is given to the purchaser to take home. Proceeds from the sale of trimmings will be donated to the Education Above All Foundation to support their education projects that target vulnerable communities across the world. The launch of the new design hub was announced in the virtual summit that Msheireb Properties organized today by Ali Al Kuwari, Acting CEO of Msheireb Properties, with the participation of representatives of design districts from around the world.

Doha Design District will enhance Msheireb Downtown Doha’s position as a district of art and creativity and serve as a state-of-the-art center for local designers to flourish. Interior Design Manager at Maheireb properties, Shaikha Al Sulaiti, explained the importance of interior design, its impact on our daily lives, and its contribution to mankind. David MacAdam, senior leasing consultant at Mshweireb Properties talked about the inception of Doha Design District, its initiatives and significance in Msheireb Downtown Doha, and its impact on the international level. In addition, representatives and CEOs of international design districts from Miami, London, and Brera (Italy) talked about the importance of design districts to their cities and the regions and how they emerged from an idea to a reality.

Martin Fryzelka from the international design house Preciosa showcased how they use light as a design element to inspire and connect people, and shed light on the history of his company and its role in promoting crystal designs across the world.

Msheireb Downtown Doha, the smartest and most sustainable city district in the world, announced hosting a sport exhibition organized by Sea Shore Group and Al Hosh Gallery at Sikkat Alwadi until 20^th February.

Sponsored by Msheireb Properties, the exhibition aims to shed the light on the Qatari sport in the past and the present and introduces the current generations to the big achievements and encourage them to follow healthy lifestyle and pursue their sports careers.

Open daily from 10 AM until 9 PM, the exhibition adopts the highest standards of precautionary measures to secure safety to visitors and staff. Visitors should register their names first at the registration desk at the entrance and wait for their turn to enter based on the capacity of the exhibition and to maintain social distance among them. They should always also show Ehtiraz App green code and wear masks.

Participating in the exhibition are the Qatar Ministry of Defense, and group of Qatari artists and sportspeople, including Sultan Al Jassem, the sport documentarian who will display a selection of photos and portraits documenting history of sports in Qatar and reviving the collective memory of Qataris to remind them with their achievements. Artist Ahmed Al Maadeed is displaying artistic portraits around sport. In addition, the exhibition will display sport equipment and tools used by Qatari sportspeople during their sport journey, including Mohamad Al Thani, the well-known climber who conquered the world summits, Mutaz Barshim, the high jump athlete and Olympic champion, the sport figure Asma Althani, Ali Bin Towar Alkuwari Qatari traveler and athlete in addition to Abdulla Al Khulaifi – the drag race champion.

Organized on Qatar National Sports Day, the sport exhibition at Msheireb Downtown Doha inspires people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and accomplish their sport dreams and overcome any challenges they might face in their life.
