Through advanced technologies and intelligent strategies, our energy consumption is remarkably lowered by 30%. Solar energy is harnessed through 1,400 solar thermal panels and 6,400 photovoltaic (PV) panels with a total installed capacity of 1.4 MW.

Smart lighting, water-saving solutions, green mobility, and waste management further reinforce our eco-commitment at Msheireb Downtown Doha.

Sustainable Mobility & Transport

Sustainable Mobility & Transport

• A clean-energy tram system provides sustainable mobility across the district.
• Dedicated lanes for bicycles and pedestrians encourage a healthy, low-carbon lifestyle.

Energy Efficiency & Renewable Power

Energy Efficiency & Renewable Power

• Improved building envelopes, recessed windows, and energy recovery systems reduce total energy usage by approximately 30%.
• A high-efficiency district cooling plant further optimises energy performance.
• Over 6,400 photovoltaic solar panels generate on-site electricity, while 1,400 solar panels provide solar-heated water, reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.

Urban Design & Climate Responsiveness

Urban Design & Climate Responsiveness

• Streets are oriented to capture cool breezes from the Gulf and provide shade for most pedestrian routes.
• Buildings are massed to shade one another and use light-coloured materials to reduce cooling requirements.
• Eco-friendly materials, thicker walls, and heat-isolating glass help maintain comfortable indoor temperatures while reducing energy use.

Resource Conservation & Waste Management

Resource Conservation & Waste Management

•Non-potable water from the municipality is used for irrigation, flushing, and district cooling make-up water.
•Efficient irrigation systems and native, drought-tolerant plants minimise water consumption.
•An advanced waste collection and segregation system ensures that most waste is recycled or reused, significantly reducing landfill impact.

Msheireb Downtown Doha

Msheireb Downtown Doha stands as the world’s first sustainable downtown regeneration project, a living example of how a modern city can be smart, energy-efficient, and deeply rooted in cultural heritage.
